Hi all,
So, I have a few serious notices here!
First off, as of tonight, if you are not renewed, your status goes to guest. You must contact one of us to change this status. If you do not do this by October 1, you will be made a permanent guest, thus your account will not be post-able from. So get that done.
As for requesting characters, that is now open and I will be letting you all know how they are distributed.
Secondly, Proboards has requested we stop any mature content on this board, as per their content policy. So the red light district has to be gone by the end of the weekend. I know, it's not what you wanted to hear, but it is either lose a section or get rid of our site completely. So we ask that you all - mainly you veterans - tone it down just a tad so we can keep everything going here. If you need one of those posts, as always, I have it saved for you in my personal files and it will be available upon request.
So, we will be returning to a T (PG13) rating on this site.
That means:
Suitable for teens, 13 years and older, with some violence, minor coarse language, and minor suggestive adult themes.
(Taken directly from the fiction ratings board)
T, in my mind, has the following rules:
Swearing - okay, just don't make it a whole post of bad language. You are all much better writers than that! swearing should accent your writing, not the other way around!
Drinking/Smoking/Drug use- okay (because really, this isn't too terrible, especially for our time frame)
Fight scenes/Violence - okay, keep it non-graphic. I'm not saying no fights, just keep it from making anyone sick.
Gore - again, keep it down.
Child Abuse - This is touchy and via the code of conduct with proboards, we cannot support this here. Mention it if it is physical or mental, and explore the aftermath. NO sexual abuse at all.
Rape - not okay. Mention it, explore the aftermath, but no one needs to read it.
Sex - not okay - Just mention it and tastefully fade to black.
Slash - hmmm. The book was set in 1966, but in light of gay rights, I am willing to compromise here. Treat it like any other T appropriate relationship. Kissing is okay, hand holding, mentions of sex, etc. Nothing graphic and please paste a warning, if you for see that going on, so that the non-slash lovers can avoid it and I'm not playing referee over moral issues.
Suicide - though I would hope no one is going to kill off their characters, okay. But please just let us know instead of having a tragically dramatic suicide scene, alright?
Pregnancy - okay, we love babies! Just don't give us the conception part.
As of right now, I think that covers everything. Thanks for reading and helping us out here. We hope that this is in no way a deterrent for using our site.
And that ends today's lesson on Saving the Dolphins...I mean, T content.
Thanks for your consideration,
Buck
